National Staff
Director - Esperanza School
Vanessa began working with us in 2013 as a teacher in our after school program. She directed our first summer program in 2014. In 2015, she added full-time house parent to her responsibilities. Vanessa loves each student at EA and ensures that each one knows their value through her individual attention. Vanessa came to know Christ at EA and puts the responsibility of discipling the children as a priority in all that she does.
Psychologist and Coordinator - Familias Fuertes
Brenda began as an intern at EA in 2018. She then completed her degree in psychology and serves in that capacity in all four of EA’s programs. She primarily works with our parents and they love her. Brenda recently shared that through working with the children and parents she has come to more fully understand God’s love and mercy. With her new experiences in our Christian community she is now able to tell our parents that though life is not easy, God is always good.
Executive Assistant and Home Missionary
Dina has served EA mission teams as an interpreter since 2007. She has experience working in various administrative capacities for international companies. Dina joined our staff in 2018. She has a heart to protect and support the children, families, staff, and international missionaries in the community of Esperanza de Ana. She has chosen to serve with a heart of a home missionary and walks in faith for God’s provision.
Food Services Manager and staff leader
Delia has been with us since 2010. With Delia in the kitchen, stories pour out of troubled hearts. Laughter, also, rings out and keeps us strong. Food is provided beyond that which physically sustains us. Delia came to know Christ at EA and she has grown rich in wisdom and faith. She is a leader through the strength of a heart that truly trusts God.
Custodian and Kitchen Assistant
Dora has been a friend to Esperanza de Ana since 2008. We were excited when she was able to join our staff in 2017. Dora has a beautiful smile to go with her sweet spirit and it has been a joy to have her with us as she humbly serves the children, family, and staff at EA through her various duties in the kitchen and on property. Dora is an encouragement as she courageously commits to learn and grow.
Acting Director - Casa Esperanza
Mahidi began working with us in January of 2018 as house parent and teacher in the after school program, both roles which she continues to hold. In May of 2019 she stepped in to help direct our part-time residential care program, Casa Esperanza. Mahidi also leads our students and staff in worship at our Monday afternoon service. She has been an extended part of the EA family for many years through her leadership at our local church.
Preschool Teacher
Guisela has been a part of the EA family since 2010. She and two of her siblings were the first children God brought through our doors. In 2018, she began working as a preschool caregiver and has moved into a more of a teaching role in our Preschool Pilot Project. Guisela has the gift of leadership, discerns well, and is a very attentive to each child’s individual needs. In February of 2019 Guisela became the first of our parents to make the formal commitment of marriage.
Director - Launching Leaders
Ana has been serving God through the ministry of EA since 2012. Her first role at EA was as a house parent, later she became director of Casa Esperanza. Ana is now director of our program for high school and young adults. She serves them in counseling and guidance as they pursue career paths and begin their families. Her own faith journey has equipped her for the work that she is doing today. Ana trusts God, students trust Ana. She also teaches our high schoolers in the after school program.
Teacher
Milagros has been a teacher for several years and has had many of our students in her classroom at the private school were she works. She joined EA in 2019, part-time, as a teacher in our after school program. Milagros serves quietly and humbly. She loves the Lord and the students with whom God has entrusted her.
Communications Director and Home Missionary
David first joined the EA community interpreting for mission teams in 2011. In 2012, he served as house parent. David has a compassionate heart of praise and prayer as well eyes to see God’s beauty and make it known. David became a photographer and has been sought by international organizations. He supports EA’s leadership team and all programs in a variety of projects. His main role is blessing others through the sharing of God’s good work at EA.
Missionaries
Directors
In 2007 Jim and Tkay heard a call from God to “get rid of their stuff and be available.” Jim left a 30-year career in operations management. After home-educating their sons, Tony Kay was just beginning a career in IT management. Their story is one of learning immediate obedience and growing faith. In 2010 they moved to Peru to oversee Esperanza de Ana and a ministry in Ecuador called Nuevos Amigos. Jim and Tkay focus on supporting national staff, strengthening families, and educating children.
Forever Family
Property and Projects Management
Debbie interned with us in 2014. She took on many responsibilities with determination and faith. After helping to design and supervising the building of our public bathroom, she served in designing communication materials. Later she became responsible for property management and designing and implementing projects with the help of visiting mission teams. Currently, Deb is architect and on-site engineer for our classroom expansion building project.
Mission Teams Coordinator and Classroom Support
Julie served as an intern in 2014. She returned in 2015 and served as education support to children who were behind grade level. Her success with them earned EA a good reputation with our local school. She served as preschool teacher assistant and finally as lead teacher. Currently Julie coordinates mission teams and provides classroom support. Julie is Peruvian at heart and our national staff think of her as a rock to lean on.
Preschool Pilot Project Teacher
In 2018 Jocelyn interned at EA providing classroom teaching assistance. She returned in 2019 as a full-time missionary. Jocelyn is currently lead teacher in our pilot project and is supporting our national staff as we move toward the opening of a school. Jocelyn is a gifted teacher who has made an impact on her students, their parents, and our national staff. She brings joy and much wisdom to our team and we are beyond happy to have her with us.
Architectural Engineer
Lara served as in intern at EA in 2017. She then traveled to several countries to serve and learn and love. In 2019 she returned as a special intern to assist in our classroom expansion project. Lara has helped with leading our mission team projects this year. She is very insightful and has been a blessing to all of us in many ways. Lara, may God be with you wherever you go next. Light ‘em up, girl!!
Caretaker
Panchito has been a caretaker and a caregiver at EA since 2006. He began as a guardian and worked on property maintenance. From 2007 - 2010 he helped with the construction of the back building. Later he began working in our food gardens. Today Panchito serves with Delia and Dora in the kitchen. He is a grandpa to our EA family, well-loved and still caretaking wherever he sees a need that he can meet.
Executive Director - Esperanza de Ana Programs
In 2013, in answer to specific prayer, Irma began serving as national leader for EA staff and programs. Above all, she is a worshipper of God. She is fully committed to serve Him with her all her heart. Irma is a psychologist with many years of experience working with children and families. She is compassionate and courageous, loving our children and parents and calling them to personal responsibility. Her passion is to see all children treated equally and have access to quality education.
